Feel like you’re really in the driver’s seat by using the Toy-Con Car, Pedal, and Key from your Nintendo Labo: Vehicle Kit to control your in-game vehicle in the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe game. Enjoy every game mode and every vehicle type with this controller option. By assembling sheets of cardboard into a variety of shapes called Toy-Con, and combining them with Nintendo Switch, you can bring them to life! Nintendo Labo lets anyone pick up and enjoy making, playing and discovering. With this set, you can drive a car, fly a plane, steer a submarine and more! Does Nintendo Labo Vehicle Kit fix Labo's biggest problem: lacking replay value? Find out in our in-depth review that covers the build process, the open worl.
Staying on track in Slot Cars
Slot Cars is a game that only uses the Pedal and is easy to jump into. The trick to staying on the track is watching your speed. If you drive too fast, you might fly off the course!
Racing on your courses in Circuit
Circuit is a racing game with a twist: you can launch punches at your opponents (in the game, not in real life!). Courses you’ve made for the Toy-Con Motorbike from the Nintendo Labo: Variety Kit (sold separately) can be used in Circuit, as long as you have your save data for that game on the same Nintendo Switch system.
Exploring the world in Adventure
Vehicles represent gameplay.
You can explore a mysterious world and complete missions alone or with a friend in Adventure. To take on objectives, you’ll need to learn to drive three different vehicles. It’s easy to change between the vehicles at any time. Just use your Key to swap!
- Toy-Con Car: Got a need for speed? You can give the Pull-Cord a tug to pop a speed-boosted wheelie, then let it go to jump.
- Toy-Con Plane: To perform a barrel roll, tilt the joystick in the direction you want to turn and push down on the Pedal.
- Toy-Con Submarine: You can fire the anchor to interact with the ocean environment. To launch the anchor, push the button that faces you on the Toy-Con Submarine.
Fueling up for Rally
In Rally, you pass through checkpoints as you race to the goal. You can’t refuel in the game, so think twice before wandering off course. Sticking to direct routes is key!
Battle
You can enter in-game arenas for intense 1-on-1 automotive combat with extendable punching arms in Battle. The goal is to strike your opponent and whittle down their health. You can charge up your punches for a more powerful hit by holding down the lever instead of releasing it immediately. Two players can play together using the contents of two Nintendo Labo: Vehicle Kits (as seen in the image above) or share the contents of a single Nintendo Labo: Vehicle Kit to play together by using the included Custom Controls feature to design their own Toy-Con controllers and control schemes for the included games.
Bonus tip!
Did you know? In the Paint Studio, you can use the Toy-Con Spray Can to personalize all the different parts of your in-game Toy-Con vehicles. There’s two of every part, so you can switch between the two by pressing the Thumbstick on the left Joy-Con controller.
Nintendo Switch system required (sold separately).
Parental supervision recommended.
